RHMCBA Youth Chapter About Us The RHMCBA is a non-profit organization situated in the Richmond Hill and Markham area. We encourage communication between Chinese businesses, industry professionals, and political bodies. We recognize the importance of the youth in our community to develop skills that will help them become success in the workplace or in entrepreneurial endeavors. The RHMCBA Youth Chapter is an opportunity for young people in our community to meet and develop relationships with community leaders and business people, while gaining the habits and skills they will need in the future. The RHMCBA Youth Chapter has arranged placements with local businesses and organizations for our Youth Members to perform volunteer work, summer internships, and potential paid employment. We also provide seminars on various topics, including workplace etiquette and professionalism, and resume writing. Who is eligible to join? The RHMCBA Youth Chapter welcomes all young people, students, employees or entreprenuers under the age of 30. How do I apply? Joining is easy. Just print the application from our website, or pick one up at our Head Office, fill it out, attach your resume and membership payment, and drop off or mail the application, resume and payment to our Head Office. If you are mailing your application, please DO NOT send cash. Use a cheque or money order. Why do I have to submit a resume? You do not have to submit a resume, but it would help us to better place you in volunteer or internship positions. Also, employers often ask us for references regarding potential volunteers/employees. What is the cost to join? The cost to join is a one-time fee of $25. That means that you never pay for RHMCBA Youth Chapter membership again after the initial membership fee. If you are a member from age 15-30, it means that membership is only $2.50 a year! If you are a student at one of our affiliate schools, the membership fee will be reduced to $20. I am a RHMCBA Youth Chapter Member, but next year I will be turning 31 years old. Can I continue being a RHMCBA Youth Member? No, you cannot remain a part of the RHMCBA Youth Chapter, but we encourage you to transition into our adult RHMCBA membership. As a bonus, if you are a RHMCBA Youth Chapter member who is about to cross the age limit, we will reduce the adult RHMCBA one-time membership fee from $100 to $75. Why should I join? As everyone knows, it is difficult to find work when you don’t have experience, references, or connections. We are here to help you gain all three. In the volunteer and internship positions we arrange for our Youth Members, you will gain real work experience and skills that you can use to help you find future employment. Because our Youth Members will be developing relationships with our adult RHMCBA Members and Directors, we will be able to provide work references for our active Youth Members. Like our adult Members know, business deals with personal relationships. By networking at an early age with employers and community leaders, you are more likely to meet people who may be hiring or who can provide mentorship and advice. In addition, our RHMCBA Youth Chapter Members will have access to exclusive discounts from local stores and businesses. I want to take a more active part in the RHMCBA Youth Chapter. What can I do? If you are interested in having a greater participation with the RHMCBA Youth Chapter, inquire with our administration regarding becoming a Youth Chapter Associate Director. |
